Easter

We had a fun Easter weekend, it was busy for sure.

Finished the Garden

We finished up the garden over the weekend and added cantaloupe, watermelon, string beans, cucumber. We also added some herbs and flowers to another area so hopefully by summer we'll be eating fresh tomatoes with fresh basil ... ahhhh!

Sophia and Annabelle picked out most of the flowers so they are mainly pink and purple.

Gardening and Sewing

I planted our first round of vegetable yesterday so we now have 2 'big boy' tomato plants and 1 cherry tomato plant, a green pepper, red pepper, jalapeno, and habanero plant in the garden. We're going back to the nursery this week to get our cucumbers, watermelon and other fruit and some herbs and flowers. I am really enjoying it and it's nice to be outside again now that it's warm!!!

I also put a photo of one of the finished dresses I'm making for the girls. Of course Sophia wants to wear hers and model it for me :-)

Garden ... It's here and I'm so excited!

Zack and our friend Brad built me a raised garden bed and this week Zack and I filled it with the dirt and hopefully today we'll head over the the garden center and get our plants, fruits and veggies.

The girls had a great time helping me transport the dirt from the pile to the garden and they all enjoyed climbing to the top of pile. It was a really nice day so they all just enjoyed playing outside for a few hours.

Naturally after a long afternoon of playing of playing outside the girls fell asleep fast and quietly. This is what I found when I went to check on them ... it just melts my heart, my sweet little girls!

Pregnancy Update ...

I thought I would put a little update on my blog since I've been pretty quite about this one. No reason for the silence I've just been busy. We are so excited to have the last little addition join us this summer and we (like everyone else) are curious about the gender of the newest Wyatt. Right now I am 19 weeks along and I am due September 3rd but given that I have never made it to a due date we're figuring it will be an early to mid August baby. So as of August 1 we're on high alert :-)

Having a girl would pretty easy for us and to be honest I am comfortable with girls and know how they work and boys are a whole new ball game but of course we'd like to have a boy so even the playing field for Zack. But right now we just want the baby to be healthy and on time.

I am officially labeled as a person at risk for preterm delivery since StellaGrace was born at 36 weeks and because of this I now have to get weekly injections of a hormone called progesterone (17-hydroxyprogesterone) that will hopefully help me keep the baby in and not go into labor at 33 weeks and help me avoid bed rest :-) This injection was in the news last month because a pharmaceutical company bought the drug and 'branded' it so the price went from $10 a dose to $1,500 a dose (and that is not a typo)!!! When that happened we were a little nervous because the alternatives are pretty unappealing and we really want to do everything we can so I can avoid having the baby early and bed rest.

Here's a link to the original article about the drug branding followed by a link to the FDA release:

Luckily 2 days before I was set to begin the treatment the FDA stepped in and said that pharmacies could go back to making the generic version of the hormone so we were able to get the shot! I have now had 2 shots and it's not as bad as I thought but it's not a ton of fun.

Other than that little hiccup I am doing great and am looking forward to meeting the new little one.

Coming this Week ....

We (and by we I mean Zack & Brad) built the garden!!! It's built and in the yard we just need to put the dirt and seeds in...

Weekend in Charlotte

We got back from a fun weekend in Charlotte on Monday. We went down on Thursday to stay with some friends for their daughters first birthday party. My parents now live in NC and are about 4 miles from our friends so it was great for the girls to be able to come back and forth between us and my parents.

On Friday my mom and I took the girls back to the Discovery Place Kids Museum and they had SO much fun! They were pretend pilots, firewomen, farmers, doctors, gymnasts, and submarine captains. Sophia took charge of the submarine and started to tell her sisters what to do and where to go in the sub. It was pretty funny to sit and watch how it would be if my daughters were in the Navy (ha)!

After that the girls went to my parents house and stayed the night with them which was great for the girls and great for me since Zack was out with a friend that night so I had no husband and no kids for almost 24 hours. So what did I do ... naturally I slept for 12 hours :-) Oh it was awesome!

Saturday we went to Addisons birthday party and the girls had a great time there too. StellaGrace set up shop next to the small pool and sand box and stayed there pretty much all day. On occasion she would get up and swing in the little baby swing and sit. They were able to play with some friends and eat cake so it was perfect for them.

The rest of the weekend we all just hung out with our friends and played around the house with the kids.

Now it's back to reality and post vacation laundry...

Below are some photos followed by video from the weekend.

The Week of the Child @ HOPE

Sophia's school put together an AWESOME display for all of the parents yesterday. Every class made a different creature from the ocean and last week teachers and kids created their underwater world so when we dropped her off on Monday we were surprised by the schools transformation into the ocean. She was very proud of her CD fish and the seaweed her class cut out. It looks pretty incredible.

Here are the photos in a slide show ....
